Bright Young Things at Cambridge

Greetings Vintage Fans!

Bringing all the glamour of the 1930s to the Guildhall last Saturday, we were STUNNED [yes jaw-on-the-floor STUNNED] by these gorgeous original ’30s gowns from Charlotte Rose Vintage…

With Baz Luhrmann’s ‘The Great Gatsby’ only months away, we wish we’d bought them so that we could Charleston around a la Carey Mulligan all the way home!

Call the Doctor – it finally has a name…

Somebody call the doctor – it finally has a name! Thanks to fresh research and tireless graft from our pals at The Vintage Festival, that unstoppable urge to charity shop, buy West German pottery and simply wax nostalgic at any given opportunity finally has a name – ‘VINTAGE-ITIS!’

Compulsive, competitive [and sometimes expensive, although not at our fairs – *dusts-off shoulders accordingly*], the condition is yet to be thought of as curable, with many men, women and even children saying NO to mobile phones, donning frocks and quoffing Babycham [from the ACTUAL glasses!!] proving that ‘Vintageitis’ is alive and well.

And so, what remains in the way of prevention for this dreaded disease? Gather your mod cons, shop only Highstreet, throw out the vinyl and buy only MP3. Want to steer clear of this viral time-travel, where you can be whoever you want to be? Nah, neither do we!

Happy New Year Vintage Fans!

Greetings Vintage Fans [and a HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!]

As many of us have pulled ourselves out of bed, waddled to the office and packed away the tree [lest bad luck rain down on us ALL!] we just wanted to wish you a Happy New Year from Judy HQ! With ample vintage fairs, markets and special events taking over the calendar, we’re starting the year with a can-do attitude and labeling 2013 as the year that’s not just lucky for some [but lucky for EVERYONE!]

For all of our dates, remember to keep a peeper on our Facebook and Twitter and if you ever have any questions, then feel free to give us a shout!

Pattern making at Cambridge Affordable Vintage Fair

The Cambridge Affordable Vintage Fair has been one of our favourite vintage fairs for coming on 4 years now.  Not only do we love all 45 of our regular traders and the lovely Vicky who runs the Old Tea Party but we also love the stunning venue The Cambridge Guildhall.

We thought it was about time we added some little extra’s to Cambridge and have added an interactive element.  So, we are pleased to introduce to you the lovely Anne Lott..

Anne grew up surrounded by a family who worked in the rag trade. Her grandmother embroidered and beaded dresses in the 1920’s. Whilst her mother made blouses which were sold in high street boutiques in the 1960’s. “I would come home from school and  help by cutting up labels and turning corners.”  States Anne. “While raising my family I went to college and took a City and Guilds in fashion design and pattern cutting. The need to make your own clothes is no longer a necessity as so many are imported from abroad. These skills are slowly being lost, and they should be re-established for future generations.”

Here here we say! Anne will be showing you how to measure yourself in preparation to make your own toile during our Cambridge Vintage Fair. You’ll find Anne in the small hall next to the vintage cafe and she will be holding two sessions throughout the day once at 11:30am and once more at 1:30pm.
